It seems that the little ghosts and goblins were just at the door for treats and I finally got rid of turkey leftovers from the freezer and I now I’m already planning for Christmas. I haven’t put up the tree yet but my shopping is just about done. I try to pick up gifts when I see them throughout the year so not to feel the pressure of finding gifts in the busy season or the pinch in my wallet. I even store the tree decorated now and try to pack things away so they’re easy access for the next season. I precook some of the food and set the table a day or two before while I watch a good Christmas movie. I see so many stress out at this time of the year because of all the work to get ready. The hustle and bustle becomes so over whelming. Get creative and try to think of some ways that would make this season easier on you.
Let’s not forget the birthday boy.
With all the preparing and rushing around we forget that Christmas is the time to enjoy life, family, friends, blessings bestowed and the very reason we celebrate Christmas in the first place – the birth of Jesus Christ and the beginning of our savior’s story.
He deserves more than just a few moments of thought. Remember why He came to us and why He was born to man in the first place.
Let’s celebrate the Guest of honor before we open our gifts or sit down for dinner.
Maybe have each member of the family write a little love note to Jesus or express to one another what He means to each of you in the family while sitting around the Christmas tree. Maybe have the little ones make birthday cards for Him-than read them out and sing happy birthday to Jesus before the gifts are opened. Lets get back to making it about our dear saviour’s birthday.
Don’t be afraid to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.
Gift ideas for the birthday boy I know that He loves to receive.
Give generously to the less fortunate.
Love Holly.
